I'm Back!

Why blog now? After all this blog doesn't even reflect the amazing additions to our family, Avery and Hudson!  Avery is a bubbly growing two and half year old, she says funny and amazing things everyday.  Often people ask me if I am writing the things she says and does down and I have not.  I know that I will forget almost all of it as time goes by.  So I am going to try and write in this blog at least weekly (not weakly as autocorrect tried to insert).  For Christmas David got me a new laptop and our goal is for me to use it to organize and keep all of our pictures.  When starting that process I couldn't believe how much I have already forgotten.   Hudson is going to grow so much in the next 6 months and I want to have a wonderful collection of memories for both kids.

Happy 2015!

Yesterday we returned to Chicago after spending the past two weeks in New Mexico with my family. It was a wonderful trip and true to Christmas tradition we spent a few days taking turns with the flu.  Spending time with family was great, I love taking the kids back to New Mexico.  This was Hudson's first trip to NM and his first time meeting most of the extended family.  Since moving to Chicago we have not been able to make it back to NM until this trip.  Last year I was wither to pregnant and just a little pregnant and a whole lot of to sick to travel.  So for Avery it had been to long for her to remember much of anything.  Christmas was so fun this year and later I will do a post on the holiday season.  It was great, every second of it.

So here is to a 2015 full of memories and joy!

I don't write here often...

I have this blog, and I have not told anyone about it.  for many reasons, the most important reason is I don't have much to say.  And when I have plenty to say I usually do not have the time to sit down and write about it. So the blog waits, and sits, till I have a quite Sunday morning at work to sit and write down the past, present, and maybe the future happenings of the Smith's!  I know that one day I will be happy that I have at least of few things posted for our own memories!
Lets start with the past, David is back at school. He commutes up to Salt Lake everyday for either work or school, or both.  He is doing well in his classes and is putting in every bit of effort he can! That is one motivated and dedicated man! Yesterday was his B-Day and his only plans were to go to lunch and study.  I was bummed but understood, and then his playful side came out and we spent most of the day shopping and going to Tucanos! It was a fantastic day, by the end of the day it felt like my birthday too!
Today, i am working at the hotel, the leaves outside are beautiful fall colors and it is raining again. Its so peaceful (after i turned off the TV in the lobby, CNN yuck!) here today. I don't like to miss church but at least this morning has been nice.
After spending last weekend in Disneyland it feels great to spend a weekend at home.  Especially when celebrating a birthday!

First Anniversary Video

Last August was our first anniversary! Before we were married David and I had decided that we would not exchange gift on our anniversary. (or Valentine's Day) Instead for our anniversary we would decide on a joint gift that we could both use or we would go on a simple get a way!.

I had decided that we would start a tradition of creating  a photo slide show every August that covered the last 12 months. This year I did not tell David in advance. I had just simply asked him to come and look at something on my computer. To my surprise I think that he loved the slide show even more then I did! This year was a little long... we had an awesome year! But as I am creating this years show I decided that I should put it on the blog! So here it is!

I Made It!

Graduation was at the end of April and I am so grateful that I had so many of my family and friends there to celebrate with me! I was not the only graduate that we celebrated... David graduated as well! It was wonderful to have him by my side as we spent the day enjoying our accomplishments!
Utah Valley University will always have a special place in our hearts. It is where we met. Where David was the Vice President of Academics and Senator for the school of business.  We love UVU and we will continue to spend time there with the CAL program.  UVU has treated us well and I am a very lucky girl to have a husband and parents that gave me encouragement while I finished my Bachelor degree.

Laughter!

The Best Music Video Ever
There are quirky little things in my life that I enjoy. Simple things that make me laugh. This is one of them...

While working at a clothing store one of my coworkers decided that she would write a youtube clip on a piece of paper ever shift and I was to go home and watch it. This started because one day she was singing the song from the video above and I couldn't help but laugh as she danced around the store singing and dancing to the exact accent and moves in teh video.  Everytime I watch this I am taken back to that moment and I love it! If there was more time in the day I would learn the dance and then keep it to my self!

I wish that I could remember other funny videos that she shared with me, even if they were only funny because she quoted them all the time at random. There was Charlie the Unicorn, Muffins, and of course Charlie bit me!

As for the life of David and Dacia... we are one month away from the end of the semester. I could not be less motivated, I have way to much to do and enough time to take care of it if I could just sit down and focus!

My first final is one month from today!

Back to School

After a WONDERFUL two week break from school the time has come to step back into real life and the full load of responsibilities! The break was great, there were even a few days where David was not feeling well so we spent ample amount of time on the couch watching TV and playing the new Mario game on the wii. I loved it. I always get plenty of attention from my wonderful husband but it is even better to have him just a little under the weather now and again. It slows him down and he lets go of the guilt of enjoying a laid back day.

I love to travel... therefore I love to have a vacation to look forward to! This past week we have planned a cruise with another couple to the Caribbean. I am so excited that I can't even explain it. I believe that it is something close to 128 days away. Why this grand vacation? McKenzie and I will both be graduating this April and after surviving the classes and this winter cold we deserve an island get away.

School started this week... While this is my last semester I approach it with mixed feelings. I am thrilled to see that light at the end of this 6 year tunnel. But I know that there are things about school that I will miss.

The first week of the spring semester will always remind me of one thing... walking into my marketing class and having no idea that I was about to meet my future husband. One day I will get David to write down his perspective of the day we met. I love when he tells the story because it is so cute! Two years seems so short looking back.

It's been a good week here! And I have every intention to make the next week just as good if not better!
